New Yorkers can subscribe to emergency and weather text alerts

New Yorkers can text their county of residence to 333111 to receive emergency and weather alert texts to their phones. Governor Kathy Hochul announced the launch of the program as part of the stateโ€™s Hurricane Preparedness Week.

Managed by the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES), this text option allows New Yorkers to receive updates for their selected counties. Itโ€™s free to sign up. New Yorkers can simply text the name of the county theyโ€™d like to receive alerts for to 333111. Users can also register to receive alerts for multiple counties by texting additional county names, one at a time.

โ€œMy highest priority is the safety of New Yorkers, especially during times of severe and unpredictable emergency events,โ€ Governor Hochul said.
