Livingston Fire Department Receives New Gear, Wildfire Training

Firefighters recently scored some new gear with the help of a federal grant and some โ€œstrong local support,โ€ the Livingston Fire Department says.

The new equipment โ€“ which includes protective coats and bunker pants โ€“ will help keep Livingston firefighters safe on the job, Fire Chief Christopher Mullin said.

According to Mullin, the Township of Livingston successfully applied for funding through the American Rescue Plan Firefighter 2022 RFP to purchase essential gear for its personnel.

The grant program provided the township with $70,000. Town administrators committed an extra $34,000 to fully fund the purchase.

โ€œI would like to thank our partners at the federal, state and local levels for working together to make this grant purchase possible for the protection of our firefighters,โ€ Mullin said.

Members of the Livingston Fire Department received โ€œWildland Fire Training for Structural Firefightersโ€ training in October from Todd Saccheiro, section forest fire warden of the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
