Multiple people hospitalized in seven-vehicle pile-up in Las Vegas

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Multiple people were taken to a hospital after a seven-vehicle collision near the UNLV campus in Las Vegas Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

A seven-vehicle collision occurred on University Center Drive, just south of E. Harmon Avenue, at approximately 2:09 p.m., according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

A 2023 Hyundai Elantra was speeding north on University Center toward Harmon and failed to slow down for traffic stopped at a red light, police said in a statement, citing evidence from the scene, witness statements, and dash camera footage.

The Hyundai crashed into the rear of a Ford Transit Van and a tour bus. The force of the collision led to a pile-up as the Ford crashed into a Dodge Charger in front of it. The Dodge hit a Tesla Model 3, and the Tesla then hit a Toyota Highlander. Debris from the crash also hit the back of a nearby Toyota Camry.

Emergency personnel quickly triaged the scene and transported a total of seven patients to local hospitals, the Clark County Fire Department said.
