Carson City first responders ask the community to help one of their own diagnosed with rare liver cancer

VIDEO: 20-year-old 911 Carson dispatcher Haylee Busby has been diagnosed with a rare liver cancer. According to her GoFundMe, her diagnosis: Fibrolamellar carcinoma (FLC), a rare and aggressive form of liver cancer that affects approximately 1 in 5 million people in the U.S. FLC typically strikes young individuals with no prior liver conditions. Haylee was referred to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, for specialized care. Haylee is described as being the silliest, happiest, and most caring person. Her co-workers and those who know her say sheโ€™s the kind of person who lights up a room just by being in it. Sheโ€™s always had a passion for helping others, which led her to her dream job as a dispatcher with Carson City Dispatch. It was determined in Hayleeโ€™s case that surgery is currently not an option. Her treatment includes immunotherapy to target the cancer throughout her body, along with Y90 radiation beads being injected into her liver. So on Saturday, June 21st, Carson first responders will be at the Taste of Downtown event in Carson City, raising money for Halyee.
