VIDEO: A vortex surrounded by flames and smoke formed over the Deer Creek Fire in San Juan County on Saturday. Jessy Bender with the Bureau of Land Management said debris flown around by the vortex caused damage to a fire engine. โOne BLM engine sustained damage and has been pulled from fire operations until it is repaired,โ Bender said. โWe will know more on the extent of the damage in the coming days.โ Utah Fire Info said on Sunday in a Facebook post that structures in the area around the vortex were also damaged. โThis event stirred flames high into the air and caused additional structure damage in the area,โ the UFI said. โNo one was hurt during this uncommon weather phenomenon.โ According to Bender, a high amount of wind caused the vortex to form.
