PHOTOS: Firefighters battled a raging house fire in Palos Verdes Estates on Friday morning. While on the way to another story, KTLAโs Rich Prickett in Sky5 spotted the flames consuming a residence near Via Sonoma around 7 a.m. and went live as firefighters arrived on scene.
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, crews initially responded to a 911 hang-up call at 2425 Via Sonoma around 6:55 a.m. When they arrived, firefighters found a fully involved single-story home and shifted into defensive mode as the blaze spread from a detached garage to the main structure.
During the live broadcast, Prickett described the home as โa total loss,โ noting that flames were spreading dangerously close to the house next door. โIt appeared to be the main portion of a home, or at least extending into another home here,โ he said, adding that crews had just begun to get water on the fire as Sky5 arrived overhead.
