PHOTOS: A large fire at a Pickaway County fertilizer company will continue to burn for at least a couple of more hours, as was advised by those at the scene. Just before 3 a.m. Wednesday, multiple units reported to a large industrial fire at the Nutrien AG Solutions facility on Five Points Pike, near State Route 56 in Mt. Sterling. The fire has yet to cause any reported injuries and is currently being contained to the facility only.
Firefighters are letting the blaze burn as it is the safest way to handle the product, which was advised by the manufacturer. Nutrien AG Solutions is a fertilizer company and a retail division for Nutrien LTD, the worldโs largest crop inputs company. The Scioto Township Fire Department said the biggest concern is water runoff draining into the local water table, but to this point, that has been prevented. Air monitors have also been set up and are currently clear.
Residents in the immediate area have been advised to stay inside their homes and Hazmat teams from Jackson Township and Southwest Pickaway County are on the scene. The State Fire Marshal will arrive later this morning to assist in the investigation. A cause of the fire has not yet been determined and no injuries have been reported.
