Pennsylvania fire department connects with community through trading cards

VIDEO: Wilkes-Barreโ€™s Fire Department is connecting with the community through an old school method: Trading cards. Dozens of people packed the fire department headquarters to hear about the release of the cards. The project is a joint effort between city officials and the firefightersโ€™ union. Itโ€™s all part of the departmentโ€™s community outreach program to bring the cityโ€™s firefighters and EMTs closer to the people they serve.

โ€œSo we have younger individuals in the community that, ya know, they might think that they canโ€™t do this kind of job, but, ya know, being able to interact with the community kind of gives them that kind of hope, like okay, hope and inspiration,โ€ Firefighter and EMT Candice Hartman told 28/22 News. The first person to collect all 81 cards will win prizes, like a tour of the fire station and a free t-shirt.
