New public safety communications tower unveiled in Southern Oregon

VIDEO: Medford officials celebrated the opening of a new public safety communications tower in East Medford. The $1 million project, built entirely through a public-private partnership, cost taxpayers nothing. The tower replaces aging infrastructure and enhances both emergency radio and cellular coverage throughout the region. It was developed in collaboration with the Public Safety Towers Company (PSTC) and AT&Tโ€™s FirstNetยฎ network, the nationwide broadband system built specifically for first responders.

PSTC financed and constructed the tower, recouping costs by leasing space to wireless carriers. The city now has access to modern, reliable communications infrastructure without any upfront expense. The new tower ensures faster, more dependable connections for 9-1-1 callers and emergency personnel, improving public safety operations across the Rogue Valley. City leaders say the project highlights the benefits of innovative public-private partnerships.
