Iowa couple leaves farm to fire and ambulance service in their will, as one final gift

PHOTOS/VIDEO: A new fire and EMS building in Kingsley, Iowa has gone up. โ€œIn our old building we couldnโ€™t even open all of the doors on our ambulance on the sides all the way without running into something else,โ€ said Kingsley Ambulance Serviceโ€™s Crew Chief, Bobbi Hirschman. โ€œWhich is not the norm for most small towns,โ€ said Hirschman.

Kingsley Fire and EMS is made up of 51 volunteer firefighters and EMTS. A group of people who run into danger, asking for nothing in return, only hoping to make a difference when it matters most. The tight knit community does not let their extraordinary work go unnoticed. โ€œOur community has supported us overwhelmingly over the years,โ€ said Kingsley Fire Chief, Brandon Sitzmann.

Francis W. and Annola M. Schweitzberger lived their whole lives in Kingsley, Iowa, and frequently gave back to the community. Upon their deaths in 2001 and 2010, the couple left behind their beloved farm. Their will was clear. โ€œWe had a very generous couple in town here that donated a farm after they passed away,โ€ said Hirschman. โ€œIt was willed to the fire and ambulance service of Kingsley.โ€
