Missoula Fire Department to roll out new truck equipped with 107-foot ladder

The Missoula Fire Department is expanding its capabilities with a new 107-foot ladder truck designed to improve emergency response in the cityโ€™s narrow neighborhoods and complex urban settings. The addition marks a significant upgrade from the shorter ladders and engines currently in service.

โ€œThis 107-foot ladder with a single rear axle allows us to get better access to tighter neighborhoods as well as have the master stream reach,โ€ said Missoula Fire Department Assistant Chief Philip Keating. The single-axle design will make it easier for firefighters to navigate crowded parking areas and older residential streets where larger rigs often struggle to maneuver. Unlike the departmentโ€™s other ladder trucks, this new model does not feature a basket, but itโ€™s outfitted with full rescue gear and a high-powered master stream system.
