Fire crews from multiple agencies responded late Sunday night in Butte to a grass fire near Blue Bird Trail, successfully stopping its forward progress before it could spread further. The fire was reported just before 11 p.m. Butte-Silver Bow’s Engines 3 and 4 and Brush 1 responded along with Rocker Volunteer Fire Department, and Big Butte Volunteer Fire Department. Thanks to the swift response, firefighters were able to stop the fireโs forward progress quickly. Crews spent about an hour and a half mopping up hot spots and securing the perimeter. Authorities say this is one of several small fires reported in the area recently. Firefighters note that moderate temperatures and current fuel moisture levels have helped keep these incidents relatively small. However, they warn that as fuels continue to dry and temperatures rise, fire behavior could become more extreme. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
