VIDEO: The Bozeman Fire Department has introduced a new team member to its squad, in the form of a Quick Response Vehicle. This marks the department’s first-ever use of such a vehicle. The Quick Response Vehicle, which is more affectionately known as Squad 2, is designed to enhance the department’s ability to respond to medical emergencies in the community.
Bozeman Fire Chief Josh Waldo highlighted the significance of this addition. “If you look at the city of Bozeman, fire is only about two percent of what we do. Our biggest driver for service demands here is E-M-S, makes up about 58 to 60 percent of what we do. All of which can be done from units like this,” said Waldo.
Waldo mentioned that this vehicle is the first of its kind in Gallatin County. It replaces the more traditional ambulances previously used by the department. The vehicle is scheduled to be in operation next week, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
