No one injured in fire that damaged garage in Columbia

No one was injured in a house fire late Wednesday night on Godas Circle in Columbia, according to a news release from the Columbia Fire Department. Firefighters responded to the 1300 block of Godas Circle at 11:53 p.m. and found a duplex with smoke coming out of an attached garage, according to the news release.

Crews entered the structure to attack the fire, search for people inside and ventilate the structure. There was no one in the affected unit of the duplex, and residents in the adjoining side got out safely, according to the Fire Department. Firefighters contained the fire to the garage, but smoke damaged the connected unit, according to the Fire Department.

The fire was under control within 20 minutes, according to the Fire Department. Columbia fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
