VIDEO: Several staff members were promoted at the Petal Fire Department on Tuesday. Seth Cox is a second-generation firefighter and started his career in 2010.
Cox previously served as a captain within the department before moving into his new position as battalion chief. Battalion chiefs oversee several different areas, including personnel, operations and emergency response plans. The PFD has three battalion chiefs in charge of different shifts.
Cox said he saw the position as a chance to play a bigger role in raising the bar for the departmentโs staff. โTo give the best possible service to the community and the best direction to new recruits in terms of passing on knowledge that Iโve gained through the years to give our citizens the best firemen that are capable of responding to them in an emergency situation,โ said Cox. The new promotions will go into effect on Oct. 15.
