VIDEO: A firefighter was injured while battling a house fire in Jackson. The blaze happened around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning at a home located off Lakewood Drive at McDowell Road. A Jackson firefighter was seen on a stretcher and being put into an ambulance as a result of the fire. He was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Jackson Fire Assistant Chief Patrick Armon said the firefighter fell through a floor of the abandoned home while putting out the flames, resulting in him injuring his back. He is expected to be treated and released from the hospital later on Tuesday. Armon said no one was in the home during the house fire. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
