Firefighter injured in Jackson house fire

A Jackson firefighter was injured while responding to a house fire on Northwest Street in Jackson. The Jackson Fire Department says when they arrived on scene around 5 a.m., the flames were coming from the roof. After they put out the fire, they discovered the home was abandoned. This home is directly across the street from the West Express S & D Food store. Firefighters blocked off a portion of the street to have better access to the home.

JFD says the firefighter has minor injuries on his side, but he was transported to the hospital and is expected to be OK. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
