Dump truck, squad car scorched in apparent crash, fire in Shakopee

VIDEO: A dump truck and a police squad car were heavily burned after an apparent crash on Monday afternoon in Shakopee, and the road was closed in the area. Minnesota State Patrol said the crash happened around 4:45 p.m.

The Shakopee Police Department squad was traveling eastbound on County Road 101, and a semi-truck was turning onto eastbound County Road 101 from Canterbury Road when the two vehicles collided, according to a preliminary report. The state patrol reports that the squad carโ€™s emergency equipment was activated at the time of the crash. The driver of the squad was taken to St. Francis Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the truck was not hurt. Chopper 5 captured the aftermath at the intersection of County Highway 101 and Canterbury Road. The fire left the truck and the Shakopee Police Department vehicle charred and completely destroyed. It is unclear what caused the two vehicles to catch fire.
