Holland firefighters rescued two cats from a house fire on Saturday evening. According to the Holland Department of Public Safety, firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 500 block of Spring Lane around 7 p.m. When crews arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from a residential condo unit. Firefighters brought the blaze under control quickly, preventing it from worsening. There were no residents or first responders injured in the fire.
Thanks to primary search efforts, firefighters found two cats and safely rescued them. The cats were evaluated on the scene and are expected to make a full recovery. In addition to the fire damage in the primary unit, two neighboring condos also sustained damage from heat and smoke. Crews worked to minimize the damage and protect adjoining properties. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. “Holland Fire Department extends its appreciation to all crews involved for their effective and timely response which greatly minimized damage to all properties affected,” HFD said in a release.
