Firefighters battle six-hour fire at a sawmill in Missaukee County, cause still under investigation

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A commercial structure fire at a sawmill left two buildings fully engulfed in flames and had fire crews working to put it out for six hours, according to the McBain Fire Department. At 7:53 p.m. Monday July 14, fire crews worked to put out the fire at the sawmill and contain it from spreading to a third building, along with a large amount of wood products that were stored around the buildings.

The commercial structure fire at the sawmill was located in the 2800 block of West Finkle Road in Riverside Township. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and is still under investigation. Approximately 50 firefighters from six departments worked for about six hours to extinguish the fire. The McBain Fire Department was assisted by Clam Union Twp Fire Department, Lake Township Fire Department, Lake Missaukee Area Fire Department, Marion Community Fire Department, Merritt Area Fire Department, Missaukee Sheriffโ€™s Department, and Missaukee EMS.
