Northampton firefighters called to more than 650 incidents in April

The Northampton Fire Department issued its incident report for the month of April, resulting in more than 650 calls for service.

The department said that it has an average of 22 calls per day in April, which were for the following incidents:

  • Fires: 12
  • EMS: 502
  • Hazardous Condition: 17
  • Service Call: 12
  • Good Intent Call: 29
  • False Alarm: 88

In total, firefighters responded to 660 incidents for the month. So far this year, there were 2,817 on record. The busiest station is the downtown headquarters with 435 incidents and Friday was the busiest day of the week. The average response time for these incidents was 6 minutes and 48 seconds.

The crew received five mutual aid requests and helped 22 times for surrounding communities. In addition, the fire department is responsible for inspections such as smoke detectors, school fire drills, and reviewing solar plans, which included 95 total in April.
