Sunday, a two-alarm fire ripped through a multi-family home in Dorchester, leaving nine residents without a place to call home. According to a post on X by the Boston Fire Department, the fire started at the rear of the building located at 357 Bowdoin Street and was severe enough to damage nearby structures with its intense heat. Firefighters were called to the scene at approximately 9:00 a.m., battling flames that threatened to spread further into the neighborhood, Deputy Chief Gerard Viola briefed members of the media after the incident, ensuring that although the fire caused substantial chaos, there were no physical injuries reported among residents or firefighters. The Boston Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Unit (BFD-FIU) is currently looking into the cause of the disaster, while damages are estimated to be around $500,000, a substantial loss not easily remedied.
