Havre De Grace fire leaves woman injured, three cats dead, home destroyed

A devastating fire at a two-story, single-family home on Linden Lane in Havre De Grace has left a 66-year-old woman injured and displaced, while tragically claiming the lives of her three cats. According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the fire, which broke out early Thursday morning, resulted in an estimated $400,000 in damages to the structure and its contents. The woman, who was treated by Harford County EMS and taken to Shock Trauma, is currently listed in guarded condition, indicating she is seriously hurt but doctors are monitoring her closely. According to investigators, the woman reported hearing a “pop” followed by a flash of fire after turning on her oxygen concentrator in the living room. She managed to escape through the front door, and a neighbor who saw the flames called 911. The Susquehanna Hose Company responded to the scene with 65 firefighters, bringing the blaze under control within an hour.
