Fire rages through house in Howard County; no injuries

An investigation is underway after a heavy fire erupted in an Ellicott City neighborhood Saturday night, leaving a home completely scorched.

Firefighters first received word of a possible house fire in the 3100 block of Saint Charles Place at around 10 p.m. Upon arrival, crews found a house fully engulfed in flames, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

A photo shared by the fire department shows the house, which is located in a wooded area, entirely consumed by the fire as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

Since the house was near the woods, crews also had to extinguish surrounding trees and brush to prevent the fire from spreading.

Fortunately, the house was unoccupied and no one was hurt, officials noted.

The Office of the Fire Marshal is working to learn what caused the home to ignite.
