Berlin Fire Company to hold open house

VIDEO: Berlin is hosting an open house and housing ceremony on Sunday, October 26th.

This is to celebrate the new Engine 6, taking the place of the old, soon-to-be-retired Engine 607.

The new engine costs close to $1 million, without accounting for parts. Berlin Fire Company President David Fitzgerald is proud of the new hardware.

He tells WMDT the event will be symbolic, featuring chiefs from years past.

โ€œOur two older living fire chiefs, one is going to be in the 1988 truck, and weโ€™re going to push it out. And then weโ€™ll have another past fire chief, and weโ€™re going to push the new truck into the building.โ€

The ceremony begins at noon.
