Fire in Milford under investigation

Wednesday morning, around 9 a.m., the Milford Fire Department responded to a call regarding a structure fire on Sandy Point Road in Milford. The initial call from the homeowners reported smoke in the building. Followed by an unknown explosion, according to Fire Chief Zack Carlow.

The Milford unit quickly arrived on scene as the first responding engine. Due to the severity of smoke, Chief Carlow upgraded the scene to a second alarm. Bradley, Greenbush, old town, and Glenburn units assisted. The homeowners evacuated with no injuries from the fire. โ€œUpon entry, we did find heavy fire and did put water on it immediately, which stopped it at the single room. At this time, it doesnโ€™t seem like thereโ€™s anything within the structure and weโ€™re just working to overhaul right now,” explained Chief Carlow. Officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation but it dose not appear to be suspicious.
