Shreveport firefighters, dispatchers join law enforcement in active attack training

VIDEO: In this day and age, active attacks are becoming more common. Those attacks can range from a mass stabbing, explosives, hostage situations โ€ฆ and more.

Thatโ€™s why law enforcement in Caddo Parish prepare for any type of active attack. But itโ€™s not just for those who carry guns. The training also included the Shreveport Fire Department as well as dispatchers โ€” so they can work together to be prepared. This is just the first phase of the training.

Once itโ€™s complete, they will move on to the next part. A variety of tools were used to get deputies ready for the unexpected. โ€œSo equipment used besides the officersโ€™ trauma kits and whatnot is a gunshot simulator โ€” simulates gunshots, but it also makes it safer for role players,” said Caddo Parish sheriff’s Cpl. Marc Herring. The purpose of this training is for law enforcement to learn life-saving techniques to help victims get to the hospital faster.
