Broussard House Fire Caused by Lightning Strike, Witnesses Say

A house fire that sparked in Lafayette Parish is believed to have been caused by lightning, according to witnesses, but fire investigators have not yet confirmed it. It happened on Janin Road near Emancipation Drive in Broussard around 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 14.

Witnesses reported that the house was struck by lightning, prompting a swift response from emergency services. They added that at least 11 fire trucks arrived on the scene to combat the blaze. Broussard Fire Chief Bryan Champagne said the Lafayette Fire Department, Carencro Fire Department, Milton Fire Department, and Youngsville Fire Department also responded to the scene.
