VIDEO: A fire department located less than 30 minutes outside of Louisville will soon offer emergency medical services (EMS) for the first time ever. Zoneton Fire Protection District announced Wednesday it is launching its own fire-based EMS.
“This new service will allow us to respond more quickly, provide higher-quality patient care and better serve the residents and businesses of our district,” Zoneton officials said in a social media post. The goal of adding emergency medical services to Zoneton’s role is to “protect life and property” by making response times faster. Currently, Bullitt County EMS handles medical calls in Zoneton’s district. Zoneton officials say that partnership won’t end despite the addition of its EMS program. ”
“While Zoneton Fire will assume primary response within our fire district, we will continue to work closely with Bullitt County EMS for mutual aid and backup support. This system is only to help with the burden of the high EMS call volume that Bullitt County EMS has,” Zoneton officials said.
