One person dead in Floyd County fire

One person has died after a fire in Floyd County, Kentucky. The Floyd County Sheriffโ€™s Office confirmed the fatality. The FCSO says the fire broke out around 6:30 p.m. Monday at a home on Railroad Station Road in Hueysville.

According to the sheriffโ€™s office, deputies were called to the scene because they believed someone was inside the home when the fire broke out. The sheriffโ€™s office says the man who lived in the home was pronounced dead by Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson. The FCSO identified the victim as Marvin Howard, 75, of Hueysville. The sheriffโ€™s department says the investigation into the fire is ongoing, but no foul play is suspected.

According to the Garrett Area Volunteer Fire Department, multiple units responded for mutual aid, including the Maytown, Left Beaver, David, Allen, and Middle Creek volunteer fire departments, the Floyd County Rescue Squad and Life Guard Ambulance, as well as the FCSO and Floyd County Coronerโ€™s Office.
