Lightning strike sparks attic fire in Louisville home

VIDEO: Tuesday night, at approximately 7:08 p.m., the Louisville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 2800 block of Riedling Drive. Louisville fire officials said firefighters found smoke coming from the roof and immediately initiated an aggressive interior attack. The fire, located in the attic, was complicated by ongoing renovations and multiple layers of roofing.

Crews conducted a thorough search and confirmed no one was inside. A coordinated effort by 37 firefighters, supported by four engines and two trucks, brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

The blaze was determined to have been caused by a lightning strike. Two adult residents were displaced, but no injuries were reported among them or responding personnel.
