VIDEO: A fire department in Hancock County is getting a little help on Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day. The Lewisport Vol. Fire Department announced Monday that they received a $10,000 grant from State Farm to buy much needed equipment.
Fire officials say with this money, they will be able to purchase replacement hoses, nozzles, and a Rapid Intervention Kit without significant financial strain. โOur firefighters are dedicated to answering the call, no matter the hour or circumstance,โ said Chief Troy Roberts. โEnsuring they have the right equipment and tools is essential to keeping them safe and effective on the job. This generous support from State Farm and the National Volunteer Fire Council will help us better protect both our responders and our community.โ Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day is observed across the country every August 18th.
