Georgetown Fire Department introduces familiar face as new chief

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A longtime firefighter and assistant chief since 2023 will be serving Georgetown as the new fire department chief. The Georgetown Fire Department (GFD) announced on Friday, Aug. 1, that Seth Johnson has stepped into the role, having worked as a firefighter since 2006.

Johnson will be succeeding former Chief Tim Thompson, whose retirement was celebrated on Thursday after 25 years as a firefighter and three years as chief. โ€œSethโ€™s educational background coupled with 20 years of firefighting experience, brings a unique perspective to his new role,โ€ officials wrote on Facebook. Department staff said that when heโ€™s not busy serving the community, Johnson cherishes time at home with his family.
