Bodycam shows Louisville police officers rescue boy from burning home

VIDEO: New bodycam video shows Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) officers running into a burning home earlier this year to save a childโ€™s life. Itโ€™s a call that no officer ever forgets, LMPD shared in a social media post on Thursday. “A house fire with children trapped inside,” the department added.

The fire happened in March, and when officers arrived on scene, the Rayburn familyโ€™s home was already engulfed in flames, smoke billowing out into the sky. โ€œWithout hesitation, Officers Capito and Richardson charged into the inferno,โ€ LMPD said.

The two officers worked together to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher and find the missing boy who was still inside. A courageous neighbor stepped up to help as well, LMPD said, climbing through a broken bedroom window to hand the unconscious child to the officers, who immediately began rendering first aid.
