Chase County residents and their dogs rescued from home after flooding

PHOTOS: Two Kansas residents and their dogs were rescued safely this week after becoming trapped in their home after flash flooding hit the region. The Kansas Fire Marshal says that late Wednesday afternoon, Kansas Search and Rescue Task Forces 5 and 6 water teams were called to assist the Chase County Emergency Management with a critical water rescue.

On Tuesday, heavy rainfall across the state caused significant flooding on streets and roadways, prompting evacuations and a state of disaster emergency being issued. In Sedgwick County, fire crews responded to roughly 200 submersion calls.

Due to rising floodwaters, two residents and their dogs could not evacuate on their own, the fire marshal said. The residents and their pets were rescued safely thanks to the help from various fire departments and agencies across the state. Drone footage shared by the state marshalโ€™s office shows the flooding impacting several streets and homes in Chase County.
