Crews respond to fire at downtown Sioux City hotel

Sioux City Fire Rescue responded to a fire Friday night at the Courtyard by Marriott. A call came in around 9:20 p.m. for a fire alarm at the hotel. When crews made it on the scene, they found a room on the fourth floor filled with smoke. Captain Phil Marchand with Sioux City Fire Rescue said the fire was small and contained to one room. However, the smoke and some water damage would have several people affected being moved.

โ€œThe fire was contained quickly, knocked down. We did have a lot of smoke and some water damage to the building though. It sounds like the people on the fire floor, that floor will probably be relocated. Everyone else in the hotel should be able to stay the night,โ€ said Captain Marchand. At this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
