VIDEO: Two people are dead and another person is in critical condition after a shooting in a Glenwood neighborhood. Authorities are calling this an isolated incident, with no further threat to the community. โThere was some type of explosion in the house before the fire started,โ Glenwood Police Chief Eric Johansen told reporters in an update late Wednesday night.
Police and Mills County Sheriffโs deputies responded to the incident, which was dispatched as an โactive shooter situation.โ One person is in custody as a โperson of interest,โ he said. Johansen said shots were fired before the fire. He also confirmed that police have been called to the neighborhood in the past, but noted that authorities would not be releasing any names of the deceased, injured, or in custody quite yet.
As the investigation continues, authorities are looking for anyone with information about this incident to contact Glenwood Police. The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation is assisting with the investigation. Authorities barricaded a neighborhood after an emergency alert went out from Mills County Emergency Management at about 7:50 p.m. Wednesday. Residents were asked to remain clear of the area around 405 N. Grove St. as an active law enforcement situation is in progress Wednesday night.
