Campers from the Terre Haute Parks Department enjoyed a special visit to the Terre Haute Fire Department’s Station 8, where they learned fire safety tips and got a glimpse into the life of a firefighter.
Firefighters demonstrated how to put on turnout gear, helping young children understand it’s still him under the equipment. This lesson aims to reduce fear and emphasize not hiding during emergencies. Campers were advised on crucial safety basics: call 911 in an emergency, know their home address, and memorize a parent or guardianโs phone number. The crews of Medic 8C and Engine 2C contributed to making the visit a memorable experience for the children.
