Two men injured as bricks fall from Urbana residence hall

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Two workers have been taken down and put on stretchers in neck braces after bricks fell off the exterior of the Florida Avenue Residence Hall in Urbana. Shortly before 4:30 p.m., a WCIA reporter on scene saw one person being taken down from the building.

It was a man in an orange construction shirt, matching that of some of the construction crews that were working on the outside of the residence hall. The first man who was taken down was put on a stretcher in a neck brace and taken away by an ambulance. At approximately 4:40 p.m., WCIA saw a second man come down in a neck brace. He was also put on a stretcher and put into an ambulance. Additionally, Urbana Fire has confirmed with WCIA that bricks fell from the building and caused damage to the basket the workers were in, causing it to malfunction and led to them being stuck up there. Urbana Fire also confirmed that these were the only two people who had been stuck.
