Resident Injured After House Fire in Johnsburg

Authorities say a resident was injured after a fire broke out at the rear of a house and caused significant damage throughout the home in Johnsburg Sunday morning. The McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded around 7:50 a.m. Sunday to the 4000 block of North Hillcrest Place in Johnsburg for a report of a structure fire.

The incident was upgraded to a Working Fire response while crews were still responding following the multiple 911 calls. It was initially reported that the rear porch was on fire. McHenry Township Fire Protection District Acting Battalion Chief Michael Kempster said firefighters arrived in under five minutes and found an active fire at the rear of the home.

The fire was extending into the interior of the house and all occupants were reported to have safely escaped. Firefighters brought the fire under control within 40 minutes, Kempster said.
