VIDEO: A fire in the room of a Central Peoria assisted living facility caused $50,000 damage, the Peoria Fire Department said on Wednesday. The fire happened at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Woods at Sharon, 3223 W. Richwoods Blvd., the department said.
Crews were called after an alarm was triggered within the building. When they arrived, they found a single room on fire. Residents were leaving the building as trucks rolled up. One person had to be helped out. The sprinkler system, the department said, kept the fire under control until it was able to be put out completely. All the residents were exiting the building upon fire crewsโ arrival. Fire crews assisted 1 occupant out of the building.
