Family of 4 displaced after house fire in Peoria’s East Bluff

VIDEO: An adult and three children are displaced after a fire at their home Tuesday evening in Peoria’s East Bluff. Family members made it out safety before the firefighters arrived at the two-story home in the 700 block of E. McClure Ave, near N. Wisconsin Ave., about 8:20 p.m.

Battalion Chief Josh Martin said fire crews rescued a cat and provided the pet with oxygen. Martin said firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the second floor, and it took them about five minutes to put out the fire. The fire was contained to a bedroom, and an investigator determined an electrical problem caused the fire. No one was injured, and Martin estimated the damage at $50,000. He said the American Red Cross is helping the family find temporary housing.
