VIDEO: A house fire that appeared to be intentionally set caused $75,000 in damage and is considered a โcomplete loss,โ officials say. Crews with the Peoria Fire Department were called just after midnight Wednesday to the 500 block of Eureka Street to a report of a structure fire, said Battalion Chief Josh Martin.
When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home, because of the size of it more crews were requested to help, he said. They began to fight the fire on both the first and second floors of the home, and searched it. No one was found inside, and no injuries were reported, Martin said. An arson investigator and canine Molly were called to the scene. The fire was determined to be intentionally set, he said. Damages were estimated at $75,000, and he said the house is set for emergency demolition.
