Downed power lines spark grass fire in Boise Foothills

VIDEO: The Boise Fire Department responded to a small grass fire in the foothills Monday evening after power lines fell near Red Cliffs Trail and Hulls Gulch. The fire was quickly contained, according to the department. Crews initially asked residents to avoid the affected trails while they worked to remove the downed power lines and secure the area. By 7:45 p.m., Boise Fire announced that power lines had been cleared and both Red Cliffs Trail and Hulls Gulch, along with surrounding trails, had fully reopened to the public. “Thanks for your patience as crews worked to ensure the area was safe,” the fire department said in a statement. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. The cause of the power line failure was not disclosed.
