Change of Command: Aaron Hummel takes over as Boise’s new Fire Chief

The Boise City Council oversaw the change of command ceremony that happened Tuesday evening as Aaron Hummel becomes the new Boise Fire Chief for the Boise Fire Department.

Mayor Lauren McLean announced the appointment of Aaron Hummel as the new Fire Chief of Boise in late October. Hummel, a veteran of the Boise Fire Department since 1995, has been recognized for his exemplary service and dedication. “From his first day putting on his uniform, Aaron has served our residents as part of Boiseโ€™s Fire Department,” said Mayor McLean. “For three decades, he has shown exemplary service and dedication to our community and has demonstrated, time and again, his passion for his profession. I look forward to his leadership.”

Chief Hummel, who currently oversees the departmentโ€™s battalion chiefs, has held various roles, including Captain and Battalion Chief, and has contributed to initiatives in emergency response and regional operations. He is also an Executive Board Member of Southwest Idaho Fire Chiefs and Chairman of the Emergency Service Users Group for Ada County Dispatch.
