Boise County Search and Rescue seeks donations for critical equipment

VIDEO: Boise Countyโ€™s rugged terrain draws thousands of outdoor adventurers year-round, but when someone is injured, lost or stranded, a group of trained volunteers springs into action. Boise County Search and Rescue (BCSAR), a nonprofit made up of military veterans and certified EMTs, is asking for the communityโ€™s support to help them do that job faster and safer. The group recently launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for two thermal imaging binocularsโ€”critical tools that can detect a personโ€™s body heat even in complete darkness or extreme weather.

โ€œThey have special equipment that helps get to patients we canโ€™t reach โ€” whether it’s blocked roads, snowed-in homes, or deep in the forest,โ€ said Mary Adams, EMS Director for the East Boise County Ambulance District. Last year alone, BCSAR says they spent more than 1,000 man-hours responding to emergency calls in the backcountry. Many of the people rescued were from the Treasure Valley, out enjoying the mountains for skiing, hiking, camping or hunting.
