Honolulu Ocean Safety rescued two fishermen who nearly drowned in the waters off Kaena Point on Saturday morning. Ocean safety received a 911 call from a hiker at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday who saw two fishermen struggling in the waters offshore of Kaena Point State Trail near Yokohama Beach. One fisherman was swept off the rocks and the other went out to help him.
The fishermen, who were identified as two young men, were found after a search involving multiple units that lasted 30 to 40 minutes. They were brought back to shore at Yokohama Beach where CPR was performed on them. Paramedics evaluated then took the two men who were not breathing to the emergency room in critical condition.
