Man seriously injured after fire in Kaimuki

VIDEO: A man is in serious condition after a fire broke out at a Kaimuki home Friday. The call came in at around 9:40 p.m. for a building fire on 2nd Avenue. The Honolulu Fire Department found the single-family home fully involved in the fire. HFD said the man who lives in the home exited his own and confirmed no one else was inside. The Honolulu Emergency Medical Service said the 75-year-old man suffered burns and was given advanced life support, then taken to the hospital.

Sherrie Donoghue witnessed the fire and is glad the man got out safely. โ€œThey got him out safely, so we were glad, but it was really scary because we didnโ€™t know if there were any explosions in there, cause I heard some,โ€ she said. Firefighters brought the fire under control shortly after 10 p.m. and fully extinguished the blaze at 10:12 p.m. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
