Firefighters extinguished a garage fire at a home in Lanai City Monday morning. The Maui Fire Department was alerted about a structure fire at 2:23 a.m. on Sept. 15. Firefighters were dispatched to a home on Caldwell Avenue in Lanai City where they found a 1,100 square foot detached fire engulfed in a fire.
Fire crews extended hose lines to take out the fire and keep the fire from spreading to neighboring properties. The fire was under control by 2:50 a.m. and fully extinguished a few hours later at 5:25 a.m. There were no injuries reported from this fire. Information on the cause or origin of the fire was not reported as a fire investigator continues to look into this case. As a result of the fire, the estimated damages include $55,000 for the garage and the contests inside.
