Honolulu Fire Department contains brush fire in Moanalua

The Honolulu Fire Department contained a brush fire that broke out Saturday in Moanalua. Crews were alerted to a fire on the Moanalua Valley Trail at 11 a.m. HFD arrived on scene at around 11:20 a.m. Officials said a worker witnessed a downed power line start a small brush fire. HFD said it used Air 1 to transport firefighters to the area and also coordinated water drops in the affected areas. The fire was contained shortly after 1:20 p.m. and turned over to the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW). Officials said that DOFAW continued to monitor the area for hotspots or flare-ups.
